A major first strike victory took place by the UN in Greece, where the cities of Mesolongin and Thebes fell to the UN's Israeli Special Forces, led by General MadCap.

The General and his high Commander LizardKing stated their intentions are to try to end the conflict in Greece as quickly and efficiently. The taking of Thebes only leaves the UN a city or 2 away from reaching the Greek capital of Sparta. As it stands, UN forces could be in the legendary city of the 300 within a few weeks.

Meanwhile in Belgium, things have been somewhat quieter. The only major confrontation, a Dutch attack on Mons, was fought off with minimal UN losses. The Aggressive forces were unprepared in the first week. Rumors are coming in that the 41st are receiving better weaponry provided by the help of the Lord of War of Jamaica in the coming weeks.

It was a shocking first week lost for the Dutch and Greek forces. Is this an omen of things to come, or just a fluke that will not repeat itself? Whatever it is, the Aggressive forces are confident things will be different in the following turn.

The second and third weeks of this conflict will likely be decisive, as the UN rarely stays in an area longer than 6 or 7 weeks.

U.S. Sends Aid Package
U.S. Sends Aid Package
GC World News

Washington, D.C. - Monday, The United States announced an aid package worth $105 million dollars for the displaced people of Belgium. The package was approved by the house appropriations committee on Sunday while UN Forces dug in around the city of Mons, Belgium.

The money will help non-government and United Nations groups care for refugees in the border regions of France and Germany, and will also help pay to re-settle as many as 1,000 Belgian citizens who may choose to live with friends and relatives in the United States. An undisclosed portion of the aid package will be paid to the German Government; in return, Germany will open their borders and allow the passage of some refugees.

California Representative Alan Johnson, whom introduced the aid package, praised Congress Monday stating, "the recent actions of the Royal Dutch Army show precisely why the United States and our UN allies are pursuing their mission in Belgium. We cannot give up until the evils perpetrated by Soldaat van Oranje and his regime have been stopped and the refugees return home in peace and safety."

Johnson concluded, "Belgian and UN forces are working together to quell the aggressors in Belgium. We in congress must do everything we can to comfort the Belgium citizens during their time of need. Germany has pledged stepping up their support efforts, that was a key element of the aid package. We are supporting Red Cross aid efforts in France, however, we're going to make certain every cent is accounted for."

UN/EN Peace Conference Breaks Down
UN/EN Peace Conference Breaks Down
GC World News

Tirane, Albania - By all accounts, the Albanian arbitration efforts have failed. In the past 12 hours, last-minute peace talks have fallen apart. Stating "irreconcilable grievances" EN and UN representatives were unable to reach an amicable agreement.

A source close to the talks told us the negotiators struggled reaching common ground on the matter of Serbian occupation. Recent UN actions against EN member nations was also cited as a road-block to consensus on all matters discussed. During the arbitration, the only subjects that garnered any measure of support from both sides were matters of trade and a growing concern over the posture of North African countries.

In other Mediterranean news, on Friday, rumors began circulating that Josios Nikephoros' personal bodyguard force, the Spartans, had been infiltrated by a secret operative of the Israeli Special Forces. At a press conference in Athens this morning, a representative of the Spartans categorically denied the allegation and reiterated their allegiance to Josios Nikephoros.

The spokesperson went on to criticize the aggressive posture of UN forces. "Our king has united the hearts and minds of the Greek people. Our allies will not allow the UN terrorists to set foot on Greek soil"

When questioned about the authenticity of photos depicting underground quarters and the video of Josios Nikephoros dining with leaders from Bulgaria and Hungary the spokesperson hastily declined comment and left the podium. The UN has not released the photos or the video; the items are being characterized as "evidence" as part of an ongoing investigation into allegations of War Crimes committed in Serbia. Thus far, the UN has been tight lipped about the investigation.
